Mochi (Rice Cakes)
Mochi is made from 100% glutenous rice that is called Mochigome and a gluten-free natural food.
Mochi is high in nutritional value and is a great snack and long shelf-life food if properly refrigerated.
Make mochi by hitting it with “KINE”
Kine is a wooden hammer used as a special tool. We begin by pounding steamed and softened mochigome with the Kine.
When the mochi reaches a perfect consistency, we then convert them into small round shape portions or flatten and cut them into rectangular shapes while they are still hot.
Food for Celebration and Tradition
Mochi was originally used for blessings to express gratitude, but now it’s an indispensable product used for many celebrations such as new homes, marriage, birth of children and other special occasions.

Mochi can be grilled in a toaster oven until golden brown, cooked in a microwave with a cheese topping, or used as a filling of Oshiruko.
Sweet azuki red bean soup “Oshiruko” is highly recommended.
The fragrant smell of well toasted mochi in Oshiruko is always one of our favorites. Enjoy mochi’s hint of rice aroma to help find your favorite taste.
